Oleg Tyrkin

Russian artist who has participated in projects of the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the Historical Museum, and the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts.

He graduated from the Vyaznikov Military Flight School and served as a helicopter commander. Tyrkin became known in the 1990s after his first solo exhibition in Paris. He has exhibited alongside Ilya Kabakov, Vladimir Yankilevsky, and Vladimir Nemukhin.

The main themes of his work are flight, music, Russian fairy tales, and memories. His key idea is “flight into space”, filled with images of the future. His art shows a suprematist view of space. Tyrkin is a romantic artist whose work expresses admiration for height and eternity.
